Jackson Falls is just 200 yards from the Inn and an ideal place for a quiet picnic, or to read a book. For breathtaking views, take the Mount Washington auto trail. Take a drive down the Kancamagus highway. Visit Diana’s bath, Echo lake, and Cathedral ledge - all within a 15 minute drive of Carter Notch Inn.

In the winter, Jackson is a hive of activity, with Cross Country skiing straight from our doorstep and 6 downhill ski areas nearby including the mountains of Black, Cranmore, WildCat, Attitash, Bretton Woods & Sunday River. Take a winter sleigh ride, Ice Skate outdoors, snow shoe, sledding, snow tubing…Jackson has it all.

Once the snow has gone, the Carter Notch Inn is in the perfect spot for numerous mountain hikes, take a gentle stroll to a waterfall, enjoy a round of golf, take a dip in the heated outdoor pool, play a game of tennis, go horseback riding, or just sit, relax and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Throughout the summer, golf is available from our doorstep at the Eagle Mountain House Golf Course. You can also enjoy the spectator sport of cheering the golfers on their way up the hill to the 9th hole!  

For the more adventurous, many of the great White Mountain Hikes are just minutes away from our door including Tuckerman’s Ravine, Lowe ’s Bald Spot or the Carter Notch itself.
