News & views from the Carter Notch Inn The leaves have finally left us & our thoughts turn to skiing! We are happy to announce that we will be offering free midweek trail passes for Jackson Ski Touring in January & March (call for details) and free trail passes for cross country skiing and snowshoeing at Great Glen Trails for as long as the snow is here. However, we couldn't let the fall go by without showing you this year's creation for the return of the Pumpkin People as for the 2nd year running, Dick has won the "funniest" category with his bathroom sense of humor (see photo on right). Sally & Henry have also taken up hiking & are trying out some of the local trails, so far they have mastered Lowe's Bald Spot, Black Mountain, Doublehead, Mount Willard, Thompson Falls, Glen Boulder, Lonesome Lake & North Kearsage. We can't wait for the cooler weather in late October to try out a few more! We also managed to persuade Dick to do one small hike - through Prospect Farm to Halls Ledge - the photographic evidence is below! Those of you who know the Inn well will be pleased to know that Room #9 now has a completely new bathroom on the 2nd floor & a Queen size bed & a flat screen TV have been installed in the bedroom. Last winter, we have had our sign repainted to show off our logo. We have also introduced more toiletries to the rooms, so now you can leave your shampoo & conditioner at home! We have also added some more recipes to the portfolio including a Baked Apple French Toast & Ham & Cheese Bake. Remember to ask for your favourite breakfast when you make your booking!
