News & views from the Carter Notch Inn Summer is here - and the wildlife is back! We've been in the garden already - Dick is practising putting stripes on the lawn with his new tractor & the flower beds are being prepared for the annual display of Dahlias and other beautiful blooms to help attract the birdlife into the garden. The bears are very active again this year & we are having regular visits from a young (1-2 year old?) bear cub. He loves next doors bird feeder! . The photo opposite was taken May 18th - of a much larger bear who was taking supper from our bird feeder. The beavers are also out and active - although only 3 have been spotted so far this year. The hummingbirds have also become very busy - last Saturday we spotted the first one and now they are flocking in to drink from the numerous vessels we have dotted round the Inn. Talking of wildlife, Henry & Lulu are both well. Lulu in particular is very happy that the snow's gone - having hibernated all winter she can't wait to get back on the golf course and work off that winter belly she's acquired. This spring saw some major work at the Inn: new carpets were laid, Room 6 has a new King bed, Room 3 has a new vanity unit & lots of painting and decorating happened. We were also lucky enough to escape for a week on a Caribbean cruise; but came back thinking that we still think Jackson is far prettier than any Caribbean Island! One of our neighbors agrees with us and has started a Blog about his adventures in the area: for great photos & commentary on Jackson see Tom & Atticus's Blog. Henry and Atticus are now firm friends. We look forward to welcoming you all back this summer, whether it's to hike or kayak, sight see, shop or just sit on the porch enjoying the view with the odd cocktail or two. The cookies will be waiting for you. Call now for more details: 603-383-9630 or email: info@carternotchinn.com |
